Several restaurants that had dishes I loved have closed down. Several food products that I loved have been discontinued. I figure that this is at least in part my fault, for not advertising them. So, here are a list of some of my favorite restaurants and foods.

Note: unless I say otherwise, I don't recommend everything at the restaurant, just the specific listed dish.

Favorite food products in regular supermarkets

1. Aidells andouille sausage and Aidells Chorizo sausage
   • Comments: Very good andouille and chorizo sausages that are carried in some of the regular grocery stores in Maryland -- in particular, the Giant and Safeway in/near Hickory Ridge in Columbia, MD.

2. Fentimans Ginger Beer; and Fentimans Dandelion and Burdock
   • Comments: Excellent British soft drinks. Contain "sugar" rather than HFCS. Available at some natural markets
   • Status: valid
3. hard cider
   • Comments: Hard cider rocks. So I have individual hard cider ratings.
   • Status: valid
4. IBC cream soda in glass bottles
   • Comments: This will sound odd, but the IBC cream soda in glass bottles is much better than the IBC cream soda in plastic bottles. More expensive, too, but worth it.

5. Nathans beef hot dogs
   • Comments:

6. Ocean Spray Cran-cherry
   • Comments: This is a wonderful pseudo fruit drink. Formerly carried by Giant, still carried by Safeway
   • Status: valid
7. Osem mini-mandel
   • Comments: Basically a form of soup crouton. Also good plain. Sometimes carried in regular stores in the kosher section, either year-round or during the Passover season. Otherwise, you have to find a kosher store, such as Seven Mile Market in Baltimore, MD.

8. Osem Chicken Soup Mix
   • Comments: Great in chicken soup, and as a spice additive for mashed potatoes. Sometimes carried in regular stores in the kosher section, either year-round or during the Passover season. Otherwise, you have to find a kosher store, such as Seven Mile Market in Baltimore, MD.

9. Osem Onion Soup Mix
   • Comments: Great as a general additive for heavy meat dishes (i.e. roast beef.) Sometimes carried in regular stores in the kosher section, either year-round or during the Passover season. Otherwise, you have to find a kosher store, such as Seven Mile Market in Baltimore, MD.

10. Quaker 100% Natural Granola with raisins, dates and walnuts
    • Comments: This was my favorite breakfast cereal when I was a kid. But I stopped eating it for a while. When I looked for it again as an adult, I could not find it. Apparently, it had been discontinued.

11. Rum cordials
    • Comments: Chocolate shell with a tasty interior. Typically carried in kosher stores and European delis. No specific brand recommended.

12. Smoked sable
    • Comments: Smoked sable is even better than smoked whitefish, but also harder to find and more expenive. The only source I know of in the area is Wegmans of Columbia' valid

    • Comments: Smoked whitefish is a personal favorite. Carried in kosher stores and in some regular stores. Wegmans of Columbia carries Smoked whitefish in the kosher deli.' valid

14. Sorrentos sliced muenster
    • Comments: Muenster is one of my favorite cheeses. Sorrentos does a great job with it.

15. Smackin' Good potato knishes
    • Comments: These are sold by the dozen, frozen, in kosher supermarkets. They're really good. You should try them.

16. Sun-ni marinated string cheese
    • Comments: Tasty, spicy. Warning: very salty, too.

17. Valley Forge Muenster
    • Comments: Muenster is one of my favorite cheeses. Both Giant and Safeway formerly carried Valley Forge brand muenster. Then, in the summer of 2005, they both stopped carrying it.
    • Status: discontinued
18. Wasserman and Lemberger corned beef -- first cut
    • Comments: If you want to buy uncooked corned beef, call Wasserman and Lemberger and ask for a first-cut corned beef. First cut is more expensive, but also much tastier.
